Adoption Options
Many women have misconceptions about the option of adoption. Adoption has dramatically changed, giving women a voice regarding what they want to do. You can select your family from many potential adoptive couples waiting to adopt.
Choose from three main types of adoption, each of them available to women facing unplanned pregnancies. The three types of adoption include:
-
Open adoption: with open adoption, the birth mother forms a relationship with the adoptive family and her child. She can communicate with them and have the level of contact she wishes.
-
Semi-open adoption: With this option, the birth mother and adoptive family communicate with each other, but all communication is done through a third party, such as an adoption attorney.
-
Closed adoption: A closed adoption allows for complete confidentiality. The birth mother remains anonymous and has no contact with the child and adoptive family. All records are sealed.
Regardless of your choice, it’s essential to know that adoption is a courageous, selfless act. This choice is made out of love.
